The Best Seller (Edwin Strong Book 1)

About

Behind the international business and the servants - just an ordinary family.
Behind the substance abuse and the lack of experience - just an ordinary detective agency.
Edwin Strong’s first case is just an ordinary murder.

Edwin Strong is the intern at Parker Investigations. He generally fetches coffee for his colleague, the cynical Sheldon Haynes. So when he begins an investigation focusing on the Northington family and their business affairs, he quickly finds himself out of his depth.

Will his naive and personable approach win through in the end? Or will he become as jaded as Haynes? Will his friend Dave Clark be able to help, and what will develop with the girl in the bakery? What does the butler know, and who on earth has a poisons expert on speed-dial?

Praise for this book

This book oozes quality and confidence. The traits and personalities are well drawn, from the laconic and capable Dave Clark, through the earnest aplomb of Edwin Strong, the indolent Sheldon Haynes and the salt-of-the-earth Hunter. The tension in the narrative builds slowly but steadily, and the denouement is sufficiently late to keep you turning the pages right to the last.

Something in between Douglas Adams and Tom Sharpe, but more subtle. I enjoyed this immensely and will be following Edwin Strong’s exploits further. Highly recommended.

A wonderfully well written and absorbing mystery. Edwin Strong is smart and likable, the story progresses well. Really there is nothing not to like!

I was hooked from page one. Engaging characters, ingenious method of murder and entertaining from start to finish. Could see a TV adaption working a treat...

This book made me laugh out loud on every page. Entertaining characters, witty writing, and a strong plotline. I can’t wait to read more about Edwin Strong.
